Art and culture created during the era of colonial domination in Yucatan generated a notable architectural legacy, seen today in buildings of great value enriched by Spanish, Arab and native Maya roots. Most of these buildings are located in the Cities of Merida, Valladolid, Izamal, and Uman, which today preserve the nobility of their architecture, the cultural vitality of their inhabitants and their ancient layouts of straight streets and welcoming plazas, beautiful churches and majestic cathedrals.

VALLADOLID |

The heroic city, hospitable city, and colonial city. A city rich in history that is the pride of the entire Mexican nation. The cradle of men famous for their literature or for their fair and progressive government. One can travel her clean streets with confidence at any time of the day or night. The welcoming park in the main squares offers the shade of her laurel trees to both local inhabitants and visitors. In the afternoon birds fill the air with their song, announcing the end of the day. Located in the eastern sector of Yucatan, Valladolid was the scene of rebellions and battles between Conquistadores and the conquered. The city is just 40 km. From the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá, new marvel of the modern world; and one and a half hours from the beaches of Cancun. Among its attractions are the Convent of San Bernardino with its majestic dimensions and sober Franciscan style façade. The church holds a main altarpiece carved from wood and painted gold, with sculptures and motifs that confer a clear Baroque air. The Virgin of Guadalupe found her, the saint most worshipped by Mexicans, is 400 years old.
The city was founded on May 23, 1543 by Francisco de Montejo "The Nephew", in the ancient Maya city of Chouac-há. The city was granted her name in honor of the Castilian city of the same name. |

TIZIMIN |

Tizimin is located approximately 150 kilometers east of Merida, Capital of the State. It offers visitors a downtown with modern services, attractive scenery, beaches and historic buildings that remain relatively unexplored, the basis of her tourism offering.
The principal economic activity of this area is ranching, making Tizimín a great attraction for economic development. The city currently offers first level services, and is an obligatory stop for trade with the Riviera Maya and the City of Cancún.

IZAMAL |

Founded by the Itzáes, the name of this city refers to Itzamná or Zamná "Dew from Heaven", a personage of unique wisdom and mythical origin, assumed to be the instructor and teacher of the Mayas. This Colonial city is also known as the “City of Three Cultures”, as it combines features of its pre-Hispanic past with buildings from the Colonial as well as the modern era; as well as “City of Hills” for her plant-covered pyramids. For centuries it was a place of pilgrimage for the Mayas, and during the Colonial era it was a Christian sanctuary of great importance. Izamal is a beautiful and peaceful city, the perfect place to tour in a horse-drawn carriage on a day-long visit.
Izamal is the geographic center of the peninsula. Her history, from foundation to today, is linked to a strong religious tradition. Almost all the buildings of the city are painted yellow, giving the city a unique flavor. The enormous Convent with its 75 arches is no exception.
